Back to the Bottle - Fireside Straight Bourbon Whiskey Single Barrel Club Pick
This was part of a group of club pick bottles where the head of the club asked us to just 'trust him' as they weren't your normal private picks. This Fireside is produced by Mile High Spirits in Denver, CO, and is a 3 year 2 month old bourbon bottled at 127.7 proof. It was incredibly hot when I opened it to the point of being undrinkable from a proof standpoint but I believed it had some decent flavors. Each subsequent visit to the bottle has proven that to be untrue for my palate. It's just a terrible tasting bottle of whiskey. I'd sooner believe it was a barrel-aged gin but even then, most of the tastable flavors to me are unpleasant. This one experience won't deter me from trying other Fireside releases or other products from Mile High Spirits but I won't be buying any other full bottles without a prepurchase taste. Cheers!
