The Hidden Barn Series One Small Batch Bourbon was a release I was excited for but will end up being my most disappointing whiskey purchase of 2022. Jackie Zykan is one of my favorite people in whiskey and given her reputation and those of the other people involved in Hidden Barn, I think we had a right to expect a better release. This is terrible and expensive. I know taste is subjective and if cardboard and sock char slurries are your thing, this will be right up your alley but for me, it is so far off of enjoyable that I just can't imagine what they were thinking by releasing it. It hurts to say all of that but I can't pretend it's good just because I like and respect the people involved.
Have you had this Series One or any of the subsequent releases? What do you think? I'm going to share what's left of this bottle and see if I can find anyone who likes it.
