I kept hearing good things about Ben Holladay bourbons so I decided to buy one. This is their 6-year-old, Missouri Straight Bourbon Whiskey bottled in bond.
I love the additional info they include on the bottle. Bottled in Bond requires the season to be shown but it isn't often placed front and center for some reason, but it is here along with the dates needed to confirm the 6 year age. Also included are the floors used from the rickhouse for the release and the percentages from each floor. The Ben Holladay website mentions using the historic distillation proofs and barrel entry proofs but I didn't see exactly what those proofs are but the inference is that it's lower than today's maximums of 160 off of the still and 125 into the barrel. I like lower proofs in both categories so to me, that's a good thing.
All of that only matters if it results in tasty whiskey and in this case, it certainly does.
Cheers!
