Open the Bottle: Boulder Spirits The Trailhead American Single Malt Whiskey
The Trailhead is a distillery-only release of an exciting combination of whiskies. Two separate distillations - one peated and one non-peated single malt - are aged in the usual Boulder Spirits new, #3 char barrels for 4 years. Then, they were finished in two separate Pedro Ximenez (PX) sherry casks for roughly a year. The original idea was that there would be two releases peated and unpeated expressions but Boulder Spirits decided they tasted too good together and that is what The Trailhead ended up being - those two separate expressions married together into one.
