Open the Bottle - Copper Sky Private Barrel Pick 7 year, 8 month old MGP Bourbon. Uncut and unfiltered and pretty tasty. Whatever you call them, private selections, store picks, single barrel picks, it's fun to try something a little different even from brands or distilleries we're really familiar with. Single barrels aren't necessarily any better than a batched product and private pick barrels aren't necessarily any better than a standard offering single barrel but if you know and trust the person choosing the barrel, you can often be rewarded with something better than the so called 'unicorn' bottles with far less monty out of pocket. Is this bottle one those? Well, it's tasty on first sip so let's see how it goes over the next month or so. It is pretty cool that Copper Sky distillery is right up the road from us in Longmont, CO. Maybe we'll get to visit one day. Cheers!
